Another “cross cultural” moment with the introduction of the “Braided Kings” category on the “Kathryn’s Scented Gifts” blog. Today’s question is: Is today’s workforce accepting of men with braided hairstyles? Yes they are in fact, but there are some guidelines in place. As long as there isn’t a dress code that prevents it…men can wear them. I decided to make a point and use men for example because of the past history of men with braids in the workforce. Some african american men in the past decades found it difficult to find jobs that were accepting of certain forms of expression..men’s hair. Since then..lots of policies have gone out the door with the fact that “diversity” in the workforce is now a standard on most jobs. Men in other cultures are now wearing braids as well which has helped smooth things over with most employers of today. Things are forever changing in the world and the workforce. No employer wants to be deemed bias or sued for discrimination so a lot has changed in the workforce of today. What do you guys think about this? Leave a comment with your views on the topic. Happy Reading!
